Card of the Day 7/28/09

My friends and I have dubbed this card super pacifism since it came out. It's a great lockdown card for (G/U)W. It costs the same as pacifism (2) only you need a G or U and it removes. It makes any creature useless. Unless countered there really isn't much an opponent can do about it. I would recommend this in almost white deck honestly.

I know it seems like I've made all the cards of the day cards from Alara Reborn, and you might be asking when I'm getting to the M10. Soon, soon. I got a booster box and a fat pack the weekend the set came out, only now am I starting to root through everything in search of combos and worthy cards and such.

Maybe tomorrow will be a combo day. Or a decklist. Until then.

Card of the Day 7/11/09

Look at him. Why shouldn't you like this card?

He's a Rhino.

He's a soldier.

He turns your weenies into bratwursts.

He's a 3/3.

He cost 1GWW

AND He's an uncommon.

That's pretty awesome.

Sigil Captain was by far my favorite card in the Alara Reborn set. His versatility is really what makes him so valuable. Aside from the obvious Solider decks he can also sneak his way into Lorwyn elf decks (Try having him out when you play Elfish Promenade). He's also a good fit for any deck with saprolings. A favorite combo of mine is Sigil Captain and Spore Burst. Try pairing him with Mycoloth for a horde of 3/3 saprolings every turn. A formidable army indeed.

Card of the Day 7/9/09

I'm trying to make this blog epic so my very first card of the day is a legend, At least in flavor sense. So our first card of the day is Sen Triplets.

This is one of the only cards since the mythic rarity debuted that I thought warranted the rarity. Since Shards I've felt that R&D put mythic on things just to increase the value of it (Kresh anyone? How about Conflux?). Five mana gives you a 3/3 with one sick ability. The ability to control an opponents hand during your turn, block any counters an opponent could play, and play cards from your opponents hand. It's Esper colors means it's black so it can't be muddled up with Terrors.

This card is great for any type of play. It's works well in single play and also in multiplayer games. It's ability is both devastating and has the ability to create some fun and memorable games. There is nothing like playing that Godsire from your opponents own hand, or killing their own creature with a Grixis Charm from their own hand.

Proving Grounds

This is the Magic: The Gathering blog. This is Temporal Isolation (named after the Time Spiral card). I've decided that any other blog I write I can't keep updated because I simply can't find anything to write about. My prior efforts have been too vague, so now I'm going to focus on a niche, a niche that I have tons of background and experience with. Long story short this is the Magic: The Gathering blog.

As far as my experience with MtG goes I was playing during Tempest off and on, and steadily since Tenth Edition came out. I even wrote my senior paper on the game (which got an A+ no less). I'm not a tournament player, just a casual fan with casual ideas that I hope can appeal to more than just myself.

I'm sort of winging it right now with what I'm going to do with this. If anyone ends up reading this I'm free for ideas. Until then I'm off to do what I want, which means card of the day and deck ideas and such.

Alright I got this out of the way.
